Split view lets you see multiple things at once—a chat and a page, two documents side by side, or whatever combination works for you. Instead of constantly switching tabs, keep everything visible.

Opening split view

Split view activates automatically when you open something in a new panel. Here’s how:

From resources

  1. Browse to a page, board, or spreadsheet in your project’s Resources
  2. Hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and click the item
  3. It opens in a new panel to the right
Or:
  1. Right-click any resource
  2. Select Open in new panel

From chat

When you’re in a project chat or DM and want to reference a document:
  1. Click the + button to add a resource
  2. The resource opens alongside your chat

From the panel menu

Click the menu in any panel header and select Split right to duplicate the panel.

Working with panels

Resizing

Drag the divider between panels to adjust their widths. Each panel has a minimum size, so you can’t shrink them to nothing.

Switching focus

Click anywhere in a panel to make it active. The active panel has a subtle highlight.

Closing a panel

Click the X in a panel’s header, or use the menu and select Close panel. When you close the last extra panel, you’re back to single-panel mode.

Drag and drop

When you have multiple panels open, you can drag resources between them:
  1. Click and hold on a resource (in a list, grid, or table)
  2. Drag it to another panel
  3. Drop it to open it there
Drag and drop only works in split view. In single-panel mode, right-click or Cmd-click to open things.
This is handy when you’re organizing—drag a document from a list into a chat panel to discuss it, or move things between projects.

What works well in split view

Some common setups:
Left panelRight panelUse case
Project chatPage editorDiscuss while editing
Task listTask detailsReview work quickly
Two pages-Compare documents
ChatCalendarSchedule while discussing
Kanban boardTask detailsDrag tasks, see details

Responsive content

Panels adjust their content based on width. In a narrow panel, you might see a compact view; widen it and you’ll see more detail. This happens automatically—content reorganizes itself as you resize.

AI awareness

When you have a page open in split view while chatting with an AI coworker, the AI knows you can see the page. Instead of repeating everything it changes, the AI gives you brief confirmations since you’re watching it work in real time.

Tips

The most common split view setup. Keep your AI coworker or team chat on the left, and work on pages or tasks on the right.
Open two versions of a page side by side to compare changes or merge content.
Keep your task list on one side and task details on the other. Click through tasks without losing your place in the list.
Cmd/Ctrl + Click is the fastest way to open things in split view. Right-clicking works too, but it’s slower.

Going back to single view

Just close the extra panels. Click the X on each one until you’re back to a single panel. Your workspace remembers your preference, so split view won’t randomly come back unless you open something in a new panel again.
